If your looking at this page then you probably would like to find out about
starting to ring bells. Below are some useful links if you want to read up about
bellringing, and get some background information.

You may like to download a video of "Up The Spiral Staircase", an
introductory video from the CCBR. It is a large file 304MB but is of DVD

The NE Branch has training facilities which can teach the first time novice
bell handling skills to more advance methods. Listed are the service we can provide.
- TROYTE RINGING CENTRE
- Is the training centre for the North East Branch of the Guild of Devonshire Ringers
- Is the winner of a National Award for Ringing Centres in 2007
- Provides basic training in tower bell ringing
- In a friendly and safe environment
- With other experienced ringers
- With direct links to other towers in Devon and Somerset
- LEARN TO RING A BELL AT BAMPTON
- Learn on a 6 cwt bell linked with a computer based simulator
- At a speed which suits you
- At mutually convenient times each week
- Personal tuition
- From 12 years of age and upward
- No special equipment required
- No charge for tuition
- You do need reasonable hearing, the ability to climb stairs and the use of two arms
- Be warned bellringing can become addictive
- RING WITH OTHER EXPERIENCED RINGERS ONCE YOU CAN HANDLE A BELL
- Ring on six bells at Bampton on Thursday evenings
- Ring on eight bells at Huntsham on Monday evenings
- With other skilled ringers
- From 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.
- Special sessions for beginners on Monday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. each week
- Links with other towers near where you live
- Tuition provided at no cost
- Lots of fun
- Progress at a pace which suits you
- Work books and guide books provided as appropriate
- FINANCES
- The Troyte Ringing Centre operates within the Parochial
Church Councils of Bampton and Huntsham, and as such is
of Charitable Status
- We make no charge for our services but we do accept donations, gift aided where possible
- Our annual income exceeds £2,000 per year
- We maintain the tower bells at Huntsham and at Bampton at no cost to either church
- We support several local charities including:
- Al l Saints Church Huntsham
- The Devon Bell Restoration Fund
- Farm Crisis Network for its work in Devon
- The Guild of Devonshire Ringers - North East Branch
- We receive no funds from other organisations.
