Primary Responsibilities:
Carry out inspections of bell installations in support of Quinquennial Surveys.
Inspections may be carried out at other times upon request.
Inspections are confined to a visual inspection of:
Foundation, frame/s, bells and bell fittings.
Electrical installations in the bell and ringing chambers.
General safety.
Adviser may suggest a more detailed inspection to be made by a specialist contractor.
Provide a written report of findings made.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Advise PCCs how to approach and work with commercial bell hangers.
Provide advice on sources of possible external funding.
Advise on the management of of major projects.
Provide/assist in provision of maintenance training.
Other Responsibilities:
Collate information about the condition of rings within the Branch.
Establish and maintain a database of useful information, e.g.
Offers of redundant fittings, people willing to provide practical assistance,
sources of bell ropes, muffles, material for stays etc.
Adviser's Qualifications:
Chartered Engineer.
Former Project Manager.
Project management of the restoration and augmentation of the ring at Aller, Somerset.
